2023 ESC Guidelines: Management of Endocarditis
Guidelines for the Management of Endocarditis1) were presented at ESC Congress 2023, and guideline task force members, drs. Victoria Delgado and Michael A. Borger provided key points of revision.
The guidelines make 34 new recommendations for upgrading prophylactic antibiotic administration, new diagnostic criteria for infective endocarditis, outpatient intravenous antibiotic therapy (OPAT) and oral endocarditis treatment, and the timing and indications for surgery. The guidelines also emphasized the role of the endocarditis team and included recommendations for endocarditis teams.
