Aspirin Monotherapy vs No Antiplatelet Therapy in Stable Patients with DES Undergoing Low-to-intermediate Risk Non-cardiac Surgery: The ASSURE DES Randomized Clinical Trial
The ASSURE DES trial demonstrated that, in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery more than one year after DES implantation for PCI, a strategy of continuing aspirin monotherapy during the perioperative period did not significantly reduce 30-day ischemic events and increased minor bleeding compared with a strategy of temporarily discontinuing all antiplatelet therapy (for 5 days), according to a study presented by Dr. Jung-Min Ahn of Asan Medical Center, Korea, in the Hot Line session at ESC Congress 2024.
