Continuation versus Interruption of Oral Anticoagulation during TAVI: The POPular PAUSE TAVI Trial
The POPular PAUSE TAVI trial demonstrated that, in patients undergoing TAVR with an indication for oral anticoagulation, periprocedural continuation was not found to be noninferior to interruption of oral anticoagulation during TAVR. The incidence of thromboembolic events appeared similar between the groups, while more bleeding complications were observed in the continuation group, according to a study presented by Dr. Dirk-Jan van Ginkel, St. Antonius Hospital, the Netherlands, in the Hot Line session at ESC Congress 2024.
