In patients undergoing TAVR with balloon-expandable valves for bicuspid aortic valves (BAVs), transcatheter heart valve (THV) deformation was significantly associated with all-cause mortality, and calcification of the valve annulus and left ventricular outflow tract was an independent predictor of all-cause mortality and leaflet thrombosis, Dr. Takashi Nagasaka and colleagues, Smidt Heart Institute, USA, reported in the 9 September issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions.
