Major Bleeding and Mortality After Revascularization of Left Main Disease

The EXCEL trial demonstrated that in patients with left main (LM) disease, CABG was associated with a higher risk of major bleeding at 5 years compared to PCI, although, after discharge, the risk of major bleeding was higher in patients treated with PCI. Regardless of whether patients underwent PCI or CABG, major bleeding was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality, Dr. Gennaro Giustino and colleagues, the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute, USA, reported in the December 10 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
