In Japan, reimbursement prices of technical fees for PCI (procedure fees) shows a significant disparity compared to estimated healthcare delivery costs calculated using various methods, failing to reflect the actual medical costs, including medical technology. As a result, many hospitals maintain their operations through non-medical revenue sources rather than medical profit profit, Satoru Hashimoto and colleagues from TCROSS Co., Ltd. and the Graduate School of Strategic Management at Chuo University, Japan, reported in the online edition of Health Policy and Technology.
