TAVR valve removal vs. reTAVR in patients with failed TAVR: the EXPLANTORREDO-TAVR registry
The EXPLANTORREDO-TAVR registry showed that patients who underwent surgical removal of the TAVR valve after unsuccessful TAVR had a shorter time to reintervention, a higher rate of prosthesis-patient mismatch (PPM), and higher 30-day mortality rates, compared to patients who underwent repeat TAVR, but no difference in 30-day to 1-year mortality rates. Dr. Gilbert H.L. Tang of Mount Sinai Health System, USA, and colleagues reported in the April 24 issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions.
