The feasibility of double stent strategy in left main true bifurcation with small and large angle change between diastole and systole: The Milan and New-Tokyo (MITO) registry

The MITO registry demonstrated that in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for unprotected left main (LM) true bifurcation lesions, patients with smaller change in bifurcation angle between diastole and systole had a significantly lower rate of target lesion failure (TLF; cardiac death, TLR and MI) with a two-stent strategy compared to a provisional single stenting strategy. In contrast, patients with larger change in bifurcation angle had a significantly higher TLF rate with the two-stent strategy, Dr. Yusuke Watanabe and colleagues, New Tokyo Hospital, Japan, reported in the December issue of Catheterization & Cardiovascular Interventions.
