OCT-Guided vs Angiography-Guided PCI for Calcified Lesions: A Subanalysis of the ILUMIEN IV Trial
The ILUMIEN IV trial subanalysis demonstrated that among patients with coronary artery disease presenting with at least moderate angiographic calcification, OCT-guided PCI reduced the 2-year risk of TVF (cardiac death, target vessel–related myocardial infarction, or ischemia-driven target vessel revascularization) compared with angiography-guided PCI, whereas no such benefit was observed in patients with none or mild calcification, Dr. Ziad A Ali and colleagues, St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center, USA, reported in the August 21 issue of the European Heart Journal.
