IVUS-Guided versus Angiography-Guided PCI in Unprotected Left Main Disease: The OPTIMAL Trial
The OPTIMAL trial demonstrated that among patients with unprotected left main (LM) disease, IVUS-guided PCI did not reduce the risk of a patient-oriented composite endpoint of all-cause death, stroke, MI, and revascularization compared with angiography-guided PCI over a median follow-up of 2.9 years, according to a study presented by Dr. Luca Testa, San Raffaele Hospital, Italy, in the Late-Breaking Clinical Trials session at ACC.26.
