Left Ventricular Unloading With Impella in High-Risk PCI: The CHIP-BCIS3 Trial
The CHIP-BCIS3 trial demonstrated that among patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction undergoing complex PCI, elective left ventricular unloading with Impella during PCI did not reduce a composite of death, stroke, spontaneous MI, cardiovascular hospitalization, or periprocedural myocardial injury compared with PCI without planned mechanical circulatory support, according to a study presented by Dr. Divaka Perera, King’s College London, UK, in the Late-Breaking Clinical Trials session at ACC.26.
