Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Versus Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Patients With Left Main Disease With and Without Diabetes: Findings From a Pooled Analysis of 4 Randomized Clinical Trials
A pooled analysis of four randomized trials demonstrated that among patients with left main (LM) disease who were considered equally suitable for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and PCI was associated with no difference in risk of death, a lower risk of early stroke, and a higher risk of spontaneous myocardial infarction (MI) and revascularization compared with CABG, regardless of diabetes status, Dr. Prakriti Gaba and colleagues, Brigham and Women's Hospital, USA, reported in the April 23 issue of the Circulation.
