Directional atherectomy versus balloon angioplasty before DCB for long calcified lesions of the femoral popliteal artery: The Total REALITY study
The Total REALITY study demonstrated that treating complex femoropopliteal disease, including severely calcified lesions, with directional atherectomy (DA) followed by a drug-coated balloon (DCB) resulted in lower stenting rates and similar 1-year primary patency rates compared to standard balloon angioplasty (PTA) pre-dilation, according to a study presented by Dr. Venita Chandra, Stanford University, USA, in the Late-Breaking Clinical Trials session at VIVA 24.
