Pulmonary vein stenosis after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation using cryoballoon, hot balloon, or laser balloon
Laser balloon pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for atrial fibrillation has a higher incidence of moderate pulmonary vein stenosis than cryoballoon or hot balloon PVI, but the incidence of severe pulmonary vein stenosis is similar for the three devices, and symptomatic severe pulmonary vein stenosis requiring intervention is rare. This finding was presented by Dr. Michifumi Tokuda of The Jikei University School of Medicine in a featured Research Session at the 87th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society.
