Assessment of Quitting versus Using Aspirin Therapy In Patients with Stabilized Coronary Artery Disease after Stenting who Require Long-term Oral Anticoagulation: The AQUATIC Trial

The AQUATIC trial demonstrated that among patients with an indication for oral anticoagulation (OAC) and prior coronary stent implantation, the addition of aspirin to OAC significantly increased the risk of the primary outcome (cardiovascular death, MI, stroke, systemic embolism, coronary revascularization, and acute limb ischemia [ALI]), major bleeding, and all-cause mortality, according to a study presented by Dr. Martine Gilard, Brest University, France, in the Hot Line session at ESC Congress 2025.
