Predictors of Stent Underexpansion After Debulking in Severely Calcified Lesions: A Post Hoc Analysis of the DIRO Trial
A post hoc analysis of the DIRO trial demonstrated that among patients with severely calcified coronary lesions who underwent appropriate debulking with rotational atherectomy (RA) or orbital atherectomy (OA), the role of calcification parameters as predictors of stent underexpansion was limited. In contrast, a maximum lipid arc ≥224° and the presence of thin-cap fibroatheroma (TCFA) were identified as independent predictors of stent underexpansion, Dr. Masami Nishino and colleagues, Osaka Rosai Hospital, Japan, reported in the August issue of the Circulation Journal.
