Orbital Atherectomy vs Balloon-Based Vessel Preparation for Severely Calcified Coronary Lesions: The ECLIPSE OCT Substudy
The ECLIPSE OCT substudy demonstrated that orbital atherectomy used for vessel preparation before DES implantation in severely calcified coronary lesions produced greater calcium modification than balloon angioplasty, although postprocedural minimal stent area (MSA) and 1-year TVF were similar between the groups, Dr. Akiko Maehara and colleagues, Columbia University Irving Medical Center / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, United States, reported in the January issue of Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions.
