The Safety and Efficacy of Two Monotherapies after Left Atrial Appendage Closure in Patients with Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation: The SAPT-LAA Study
The SAPT-LAA study demonstrated that among Japanese patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation undergoing left atrial appendage closure (LAAC), two single antithrombotic therapy strategies—single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) alone and a strategy of low-dose DOAC for 3 months followed by SAPT—both showed acceptable safety, with no ischemic stroke observed 6 months of follow-up, according to a study presented by Dr. Yusuke Kondo, Chiba University, Japan, in the Late Breaking Clinical Trials session at the 90th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society.
