Balloon Lithotripsy Added to Conventional Preparation Before Stent Implantation in Severely Calcified Coronary Lesions: The BALI Trial
The BALI trial demonstrated that among patients with severely calcified coronary lesions, the addition of intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) to conventional lesion preparation before stent implantation reduced the risk of procedural failure and the composite of 1-year TVF(cardiac death, MI, or clinically driven revascularization), without increasing safety events, Dr. Andreas T. Kristensen and colleagues, Copenhagen University Hospital Rigshospitalet, Denmark, reported in the February 9 issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions.
