Clinical Outcomes of Bail-out Stenting after Drug-Coated Balloon Angioplasty: The International Multicenter BAILOUT Registry
The BAILOUT registry demonstrated that in high-volume centers, only 5.5% of patients undergoing PCI with drug-coated balloons (DCB) required bailout implantation of drug-eluting stents (DES), and this strategy was non-inferior to DES-only treatment in terms of 1-year MACE, according to a study presented by Dr. Mauro Gitto, Humanitas University, Italy, in the Hotline/Late-Breaking Trials session at EuroPCR 2025.
