Rotational Atherectomy, Lithotripsy, or Laser for Calcified Coronary Stenosis: The ROLLER COASTER-EPIC22 Trial
The ROLLER COASTER-EPIC22 trial demonstrated that in patients with calcified coronary lesions, the use of rotational atherectomy (RA), intravascular lithotripsy (IVL), or excimer laser coronary atherectomy (ELCA) each required a secondary plaque modification technique in 10.5–14% of cases; however, there were no significant differences in device success or 1-year clinical outcomes among the three strategies, according to a study presented by Dr. Alfonso Jurado-Román, La Paz University Hospital, Spain, in the Hotline/Late-Breaking Trials session at EuroPCR 2025.
